Welcome to our practice website

Welcome to Blackheath Medical Centre. I am particularly pleased to introduce you to the other members of the team at Blackheath, Sharon Davidson, Hazel Mossop, Jayne Dutton, Kath Humphries, Penny Angill, Nurse Caroline Mellon, Dr John Mottram and Dr Hannah Clarke.

Sharon, Hazel, Jayne, Kath and Penny manage the office and administration for us and will typically be your first point of contact with the practice. With the help of computer software they play an important role in monitoring patients needing regular lab tests.

Patients can now request their repeat prescriptions through this web site or by mobile 'phone text message. The NHS now provides a facility to view your records and to order repeat prescription through the Internet and an 'app' for your phone or tablet device - please ask the receptionist how you use that service.

You can still of course call into the reception desk to personally request your prescription. To make things as easy as possible for our patients, a number of local pharmacies will collect your prescription from us if you ask them. If your pharmacy is not one that collects from us we can post your prescription to them if you provide us with stamped addressed envelopes - ask when you request your repeat prescription.

We hope you find the various health related calculators useful. The pregnancy calculator gets the most hits every week from users all round the world. A number of other practices from all corners of the UK link to our heart disease risk calculator. The World Health Organisation's AUDIT alcohol questionnaire helps you understand whether your alcohol habit, or that of someone you care about, is 'OK' or whether it could be harming their health.

Blackheath Medical Centre is a modern building with good car-parking and easy access for patients with mobility problems. I look forward to welcoming you there.

Dr Bennett Quinn.
